Now that your Greenville NC private school is back in session, you and your family’s morning routine probably looks much different now than it has in the past. Going back to school during a pandemic comes with plenty of extra necessary precautions for your children and their teachers that will take some time to adjust to. Here are a few tips brought to you by Walton Academy that will make the transition of going back to school during a pandemic a little bit easier for both you, your children, and their teachers.
- Make sure your children are going to bed early enough to have a smooth morning routine. A full night of rest will make waking up early and getting ready for school easier on everyone. Rushing to get out the door in time will only stress you and your children out more, so make sure you allow plenty of time to get everyone ready or do as much preparation as you can the night before. Routine and consistency are key.
- Remind your child every morning about the importance of wearing their mask, practicing social distancing, and washing their hands. Set a positive tone from the start – let your children know how to keep themselves and others protected so they see these precautions as something that’s beneficial and not daunting. Your attitude will reflect on their attitudes.
- Have a different mask every day for your child. Cloth masks should be washed before being worn again, so having one for each day of the week will save you from rushing to get laundry done every night. Walton Academy also recommends having an extra mask stored in a ziplock bag in your child’s backpack just in case they misplace their the first one. Be sure that your child understands how to safely put their mask on and remove it by only touching the earloops. Touching their masks as little as possible is the best way to keep germs to a minimum.
- Make sure your child has hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol with them at all times. Your child should understand that they should use hand sanitizer even if their hands do not appear to be dirty. Walton Academy private school in Greenville NC will encourage all students to wash their hands as often as possible with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds to help prevent the spread of germs. For smaller children, we encourage them to sing the ABC song while they wash so that they know their hands have been cleaned thoroughly for the appropriate amount of time. This is a fun way to learn and practice cleanliness while at school.
